Thrifty Thursday (May 24th)
Happy Thursday once again my friends! I don't know if you've noticed but sooo many of our local businesses help the process of being thrifty and frugal by holding events, joining forces and uniting with others. Its fantastic. Joining forces is such a smart move and speaking of smart moves, one local newspaper took it to the next level and created a super rad app for your phone, because lets face it we live in a tech savvy world these days!
Here's a few examples of what I'm talking about:

For those who stroll by Anew Thyme/Chelsia Berry Designs and haven't popped in to take a peek they are missing out. This is not just a maternity and alteration space. This place plays home to art, clothes, accessories, baby goodies, knit wears, jewelery and more.
Furthermore on Thursdays, Anew Thyme is hosting a Thursday Market. Each week other vendors visit the store to sell the wares according to a theme for the week. This week you can find kitchen finds for example. Here on their event page you can keep up on new items as they post them and call dibs. All SUPER thrifty and local.

Weekly Volcano Happy Hour App

Okay so this isn't your typical feature here but I'll tell you what, the Weekly Volcano Happy Hour App rocks! If you're sitting here wondering when you can ante up to the bar at the Matador and get those awesome nachos for $5, or wondering when Maxwell's features half priced appetizers, at any given point in the day you can open up this app on your smartphone and it tells you every place in the area that is hosting a happy hour at that very moment! It also tells you what those specials include, how to get there, a link to their website, a quick button to give them a ring and even some user reviews. No more guessing. It's all right there.
You may just get adventurous and try a new joint. If you shake your phone while the app is open, it gives you a random recommendation. Way to shake things up, right? Doesn't that make you happy?

Every third Thursday Tacoma's Artwalk, gives you the opportunity to connect with artists at receptions, peek into galleries and see some of the sights of Tacoma. It is also an opportunity to visit museum's for FREE between 5-8 p.m. It doesn't get thriftier than free and it is an excellent excuse for a family or "artist" date.
