Hi All!

Sorry to have missed you these last couple of weeks. Even a Lady has to work overtime sometimes and due to a job transistion I sadly just couldn't fulfill my royal duties.

But, here I am back in action and I want to introduce you to a new fun idea:

"What does your couch say about you?"

We will be delving into the psycology of the couch. Our buying habits say so much about us and and home decor speaks volumes as soon as folks walk through the door. The couch can lay the foundation for the aura of your entire home. Let's face it.

Now I'm going to start with an example of what was once thought of as an "All American" couch. Not the type of family living the American Dream so much as a blue collar, average family with family spats, loads of laundry, hell even the opening scene of the show had them eating pizza around the table (not a shiny, white kitchen, imaculate, chef prepared meal).

It was this couch:

This was the couch where a family of five could sit on their bums, watch the game, do science projects, take naps. The drab plaid is great for hiding stains and down-to-earth. It's a practical and functional couch. And it's well loved, check out the crochetted blanket and let's be honest you know this couch has perma-butt indents in the cushion. This couch was the epitome of what a couch was for a moderate sized, blue collar family. Luckily we have more options now.

What's in a name? Who are the Jossy's and where did they come from?

I decided to research my Jossy Patriarchal line as far back as I could. I made it all the way back to the 1300s and along the way I learned some things. For one thing my last name has evolved over time. My father spelled his last name Jossy but a few generations back they spelled it Jossi. Go back a few more and it becomes von Jossa. This journey took me from Washington State to Oregon to Switzerland and eventually Germany. I also learned that the "von" represents nobility.  I also noticed that they repeated the same first names a lot. There were a lot of Peter's for example. Peter is a very old name. The people of ancient Greece used it and its said to mean "rock." Of course Peter was also one of the disciples of Jesus which is probably where most people know it from but Peter the disciple was nick-named that by Jesus. I've always been fascinated with tunnels. As a young girl I went spelunking on a school field trip through several caves in the Ozark Mountains. I couldn't tell you where exactly but I vividly remember one cave that we had to go down through a small opening down into a huge cavern where we camped inside for the night. It was as big as a football field. Another cave we had to wade through red clay almost knee deep. As an adult I visited Montana and we went into a small narrow cave just tall enough to walk upright and narrow enough to be able to touch both sides of the cave with my hands. Probably to the annoyance of my companions, I couldn't help but to sing as we walked because the sound was so amazing in there.
