Day 11

On Day 11 we visit St. Helen's Street between 9th and 7th. A few of the stores I intended to pop into were closed by the time I arrived (around 4:30 pm). I don't blame them. Its the holidays and it was already dark at that early hour. They probably had halls to deck, presents to wrap and cookies to bake. I'll go back and see them some other time.

I did get to stop by several really great places and I know you're going to enjoy this trip. And if you're like me and you still have a few gifts to pick out, I encourage you to go back through these last 11 days of shopping and virtually browse. You can always phone the store if you see something you like and ask them to hold it for you.

OK, now onto Day 11. First stop is ....

Rene Shea Designs

This cute little boutique has upcycled fashion, jewelry, hats, scarves and purses. The store is very clean and organized, easy to browse and you can tell the buyer has discerning taste.

How adorable is this poodle necklace? :)

Love this leopard print fur covered jewelry box.
Leopard is back with a vengeance and I'm seeing it everywhere.

This bag looks brand new and super cute!

AmeRAWcan Bistro

I love this trend toward eateries serving organic food. This restaurant features healthy, cold, organic, raw food. There are only two exceptions: cold sandwiches and hot soup. See menu below for details.

Guitar Maniacs

If you get to meet Rick King, the owner of this store, make sure you ask him about all the world famous rock stars he has sold gear to. He has got some GREAT stories and they're mostly all TRUE! Just kidding, they are ALL true. He's also in a band that I truly love called The Painkillers and they are playing at New Frontier Lounge on Dec. 30th. If you decide to go, here's an insiders tip for you: Tell them you're on the guest list. All friends of the Duchess's are.

Guitar Maniacs buys and sells gear and also does repairs too.
Connect with them on Facebook here.

So many axe's, so little time!

Look at all these babies! Like chandeliers, every home
should have at least one of these. You never know when one of Tacoma's
many rock God's might show up!

Here's the more portable version. How cute are these pink ones!

Raw power, dial it to 11 baby!

I particularly liked this pink sparkly electric.
Lucky for me, I already own one.

These have been the hottest seller lately
probably due to the resurgence of roots music.

When I saw this, I pictured an ice cave and mascara smeared
woman named Marla saying, "Slide."
And now you know how weird my brain works.

And who needs this, you ask? THIS GUY.

And if you're really mad at your sister-in-law, you know what you have to do.
Her kids will LOVE it!

B2 Gallery

B2 (pronounced B Squared) is one of Tacoma's best galleries. Every other month they completely change out the art and they never fail to impress. We visit there with the ART BUS on a regular basis and people just love it.

Republic of 253

You've seen the logo on cars, T-shirts, sweatshirts, skateboards and even a few tattoos. Now you know where the infamous 253Heart comes from.
708 Market St #412
You can't normally shop at the 253Heart headquarters but I timed my visit just right. They were holding a special holiday open house and things were literally flying off the shelf. Extra large shirts are especially in high demand. If you need some 253Heart gear, go to their website to find all the local retailers that carry it.

If you have a store and you'd like to carry this merchandise, contact Linda Danforth:

Window clings and stickers

Are you ready for this? These are 253Heart sweatshirts for little dogs! OMG!!
This stuffed dog is modeling it for you.
He is so proud to be, from area code 253!

Hats & buttons

Sorry we missed you

Here are the places along the way that I didn't get to go inside today but you totally should.

Mousai Studios is an art gallery, clothing store and dance studio and the owners Paul and Polly as cute as they come. Be sure and visit them because they have a lot of fun stuff going on all the time.

Mousai Studios (aka Polly's Closet). Find them on the web or on facebook.
