Who doesn't love action figures?! Once you lay eyes on the $1 basket, you'll be karate chopping, 90's dialogue-ing your way through some memories.

On site for the grand opening was a button-master. Burning Sands can take a photo from your phone or computer and make it into a rad button magnet or compact for only $3. There are several on site at Poison Apple to choose from as well.


Pop art character and images dangling from your ears. Time Kids hand-made earrings. You'll be the coolest kid on the block for only $8 a pair.

Though I caught a glimpse of these at Poison Apple Tacoma, Republic 253 will be Flinging in Spring at Thursdays event with items like felt cup cozies for only $10 or billed beanies for $15. Represent your 253 love.

MMMMMMM, Candles. Well, mmm in that they smell divine. Locally made and with scents like "Manly Man" and "Dirty Hippie" your sniffer will be in bliss. These tin candles are only $8 per candle or 2 for $14.

Now that I've given you the down low on some goodies you may expect at the Spring Fling (there's many more not even included this round), here's another treat or two.

They will have door prizes! If you spend at least $5 with one of the mini stores then show your receipt at the front desk you will be entered to win a Massage. Spend $20.00 or more and be entered to win an Aroma Escape Package!
And raffle tickets will be sold at the event to help benefit our beloved Tacoma Art Place. The prize to be gained for contributing to a worthy local cause? A Lorraine Toler nude painting. A $1,000 value monetarily with a priceless value that art tends to have. Le Sigh.

What's in a name? Who are the Jossy's and where did they come from?

I decided to research my Jossy Patriarchal line as far back as I could. I made it all the way back to the 1300s and along the way I learned some things. For one thing my last name has evolved over time. My father spelled his last name Jossy but a few generations back they spelled it Jossi. Go back a few more and it becomes von Jossa. This journey took me from Washington State to Oregon to Switzerland and eventually Germany. I also learned that the "von" represents nobility.  I also noticed that they repeated the same first names a lot. There were a lot of Peter's for example. Peter is a very old name. The people of ancient Greece used it and its said to mean "rock." Of course Peter was also one of the disciples of Jesus which is probably where most people know it from but Peter the disciple was nick-named that by Jesus. Elon Musk isn't the only one interested in the underground

I've always been fascinated with tunnels. As a young girl I went spelunking on a school field trip through several caves in the Ozark Mountains. I couldn't tell you where exactly but I vividly remember one cave that we had to go down through a small opening down into a huge cavern where we camped inside for the night. It was as big as a football field. Another cave we had to wade through red clay almost knee deep. As an adult I visited Montana and we went into a small narrow cave just tall enough to walk upright and narrow enough to be able to touch both sides of the cave with my hands. Probably to the annoyance of my companions, I couldn't help but to sing as we walked because the sound was so amazing in there. Cave resonance I learned recently is a real thing and can be very powerful at healing and accessing our third eye spirituality.
