Menu Item Monday (Sept. 3rd, 2012) Food, its everywhere

Image
I thought I couldn't do this blog today because I didn't eat at any restaurants this week. Its kind of unusual for me since I am surrounded by great restaurants and most of my meetings take place in them but I was kind of reclusive this week. Then I remembered that I did get some butter chicken to go from India Mahal but since I ate it at home I didn't take any pictures. Here's a picture from a previous visit.   Look at those giant chunks of chicken! This butter chicken is the BEST!  On Thursday I visited Hotel Murano  to make arrangements for our visit there during the next ART BUS tour . I got a sneak peek at the new gift shop and was surprised by excellent parking spot this person was given. Right smack in the middle of the lobby! Talk about your VIP parking! :) What does this have to do with Menu Item Monday? If you ride the ART BUS in September you could win an overnight stay at Hotel Murano and breakfast at their restaurant ( BITE ) which i...

Wellness Wednesday (Aug. 22nd 2012) Lash Dip, Food as Medicine, Home Workouts and more!

Image
Welcome to Wellness Wednesday, where its all about self improvement and being the best we can be, outside and in. I welcome your suggestions for wellness in the comment section below. Share with us what you do! Last week I tried something brand new. I already have eyelash extensions on my upper lashes  from Eye Candie (which I LOVE) then I got an offer from a friend at Clara Spa (Sylvia Sheridan) to have a new treatment done to make my lower lashes look darker and thicker too. The treatment is called Lash Dip. Its like a mascara that lasts 3 weeks and never flakes or smears. I stopped wearing mascara when I got my lash extensions so my lower lashes were kind of invisible. I didn't mind that look but this is nice too. The name "Lash Dip" is a bit misleading. She didn't dip my lashes into something, rather she painted a solution on to them. The process was not uncomfortable for me but my eyes did water a little. After she applied each coat of the solution she dried...

Wellness Wednesday (August 8th, 2012) Reality check, party of one! Let's get real.

Sorry about the lack of Wellness last Wednesday. I was having a moment. You know how you sometimes just stop and say, "What am I doing?" It was like that. Lots of self reflection. Lots of trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. Stuff like that. Luckily I am surrounded by Goddesses of inspiration and wisdom and got some great advice and support. I highly recommend inviting your best girl friends over for dinner and just saying out loud those loathsome things that you tell yourself but you really don't mean. If you don't have people around you that you can sort that stuff out with without judgement, try the technique in this video that a very smart friend of mine shared with me this week. This is Byron Katie. As my friend put it, "This is radical shit."  I know, right? OK, moving on.  Electra Spa 5209 Pacific Ave., Tacoma, Washington 98408 (253) 431-2039 www.electraspa.com Connect on Facebook Earlier this week I tagged along with a f...

Menu Item Monday (July 2nd, 2012) Plus details from my weekend

Image
.I'm publishing my Monday blog on a Tuesday. This is not out of laziness or neglect I assure you. These last few days have been so full I hardly had time to sit down. And to prove this to you I'm including some of my recent adventures.  It's been a very exciting few days! Friday night I performed some acoustic songs for Tacoma Cash Mob event at a children's clothing and accessories store called Best Loved Baby . Lady Kashmir came along and took some photos of clothing items for a future edition of Fashion Friday (kids edition). I played some of my own songs mixed in with some songs by Jewell, Alanis, Coldplay, REM, Joan Osborn, The Pogues, Regina Spektor and Death Cab for Cutie just to name a few. It was a very relaxed environment and I even got to sit on a couch while I played, which is my favorite way to do it. If I had my way I'd bring a loveseat to every gig. It felt good to play music again. I think I might try to do it more often. Saturday I got up early t...
