Home Decor Tuesday, It's all about location (June 26th)

Hello Lovelies, I apologize for my delinquency. Once in a great while the whole "day job" thing stands in the way of a good shopping adventure. As I was on the hunt for new and exciting home decor features it occurred to me that there's a lot of changing that's coming our way.

As of July 7th they will be located at 765 Broadway Ave., Tacoma

Once known as The Modern Cottage Company, Poppy and Co. will sport a new moniker, new location and have extended hours! Joining antique row and some other delightful shops on Broadway, Poppy and Co. will act as a co-op of sorts with several vendors featuring their home decor pizzaz and working the shop.

Sadly due to a series of vandalism incidents, Dwell will be moving from it's North Tacoma home. Cheesy pro STINK Restaurant will have a new neighbor on St. Helens! Hopefully more details to come on the when but currently they are having a moving sale, worth a shopping adventure yes?

What's in a name? Who are the Jossy's and where did they come from?

I decided to research my Jossy Patriarchal line as far back as I could. I made it all the way back to the 1300s and along the way I learned some things. For one thing my last name has evolved over time. My father spelled his last name Jossy but a few generations back they spelled it Jossi. Go back a few more and it becomes von Jossa. This journey took me from Washington State to Oregon to Switzerland and eventually Germany. I also learned that the "von" represents nobility.  I also noticed that they repeated the same first names a lot. There were a lot of Peter's for example. Peter is a very old name. While following my Patriarchal line, I noticed that my last name evolved over time - the last change I can't yet find but I found some hints. As I explained in my last blog seemed that around 1100 AD we may have been named after a river. Or the river may have been named after us. All I know is that we were both there with the name Jossa around that time. I can't trace the name beyond that point. They were obviously wealthy because they built castles and had "von" in front of the name which indicated Lordship.  I read also that German last names can mean their original occupation but it can also indicate the place where they are from. Several times while reading about the von Jossa's, they also called them "von Jasza" and this confused me.  I also learned that they used to name rivers after their Gods. Was the Jossa river named after an old Pagan God? Probably not. I see no evidence of this. Then I ran across a old map of Europe that had a place named Jas

Elon Musk isn't the only one interested in the underground

I've always been fascinated with tunnels. As a young girl I went spelunking on a school field trip through several caves in the Ozark Mountains. I couldn't tell you where exactly but I vividly remember one cave that we had to go down through a small opening down into a huge cavern where we camped inside for the night. It was as big as a football field. Another cave we had to wade through red clay almost knee deep. As an adult I visited Montana and we went into a small narrow cave just tall enough to walk upright and narrow enough to be able to touch both sides of the cave with my hands. Probably to the annoyance of my companions, I couldn't help but to sing as we walked because the sound was so amazing in there. Cave resonance I learned recently is a real thing and can be very powerful at healing and accessing our third eye spirituality.
